Ingredients

For the Danishes:
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry thawed
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour for dusting
For the Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 –2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

  1. Thaw the puff pastry according to the package instructions while keeping it cool.
  2. Lightly flour your work surface and gently roll the pastry into a rectangle.
  3. Mix the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Spread the cinnamon mixture evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. Cut and shape the pastry into your desired Danish shapes.
  6. Place the pastries on a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for 10–15 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  8. Whisk the egg and water together, then lightly brush the egg wash over the pastries.
  9. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
  10. Whisk the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla together to make the glaze.
  11. Let the Danishes cool for several minutes.
  12. Drizzle with glaze and serve warm.

Notes

Keep the puff pastry cold while working with it. If it becomes soft, refrigerate it for several minutes before continuing.
Avoid overfilling the pastries because the cinnamon mixture can leak during baking.
